Morphological and Biochemical Changes During Aging and Photoaging of the Skin of C57BL/6J Mice

چکیده
The differences between the dorsal skin of 11- and 16-week-old C57BL/6J mice were examined morphologically and biochemically. The dermis of the 16-week-old mice was thinner than that of the 11-week-old mice due to decreases in the amounts of soluble collagen and elastin. Next, the changes in dorsal skin exposed to UVA irradiation for 8 weeks (576 J/cm(2)) were examined in 3 (younger)- and 8 (older)-week-old C57BL/6J mice. The thickness of the dermis was not significantly different between the UVA-irradiated and control mice in either the younger or older group. The increase in the amount of collagen was related to the increase in the level of soluble collagen in the younger mice. In contrast, it was related to the increase in the level of insoluble collagen in the older mice. In the UVA-irradiated older mice, the activity of the latent form of MMP-13 was significantly higher than that in the control mice. These results suggest that aging and UVA-induced photoaging in the skin are histologically and biochemically different phenomena.

Objective(s): We sought to explore whether neuregulin-1(NRG1) would have a protective effect on the auditory cortices of adult C57BL/6J mice.Materials and Methods: We used RTPCR and Western blot (WB) to detect the expression of NRG1 and ERBB4 (the receptor of NRG1) in the auditory cortices of C57BL/6J mice of different ages (6–8 weeks an...

Objective(s): Weight gain and metabolic disturbances such as dyslipidemia, are frequent side effects of second-generation antipsychotics, including olanzapine. This study examined the metabolic effects of chronic olanzapine exposure. In addition, we investigated the hepatic fatty acid effects of olanzapine in female C57BL/6J mice fed a normal diet.Materials and Methods: Female C57BL/6J mice ora...
متن کاملA review on nutrition and skin aging
Background: Skin reflects the general health status and is not an exception in the process of aging. Intervention studies indicate that it is possible to delay skin aging and improve skin conditions through diet-based anti-aging strategies. The purpose of the current work was to review recent existing literature regarding the role of nutrition, for and against skin aging processes.Method: This ...

متن کاملThe effect of high-intensity exercise training on gene expression of tweak and Fn14 in EDL muscle of aged and adult mice
Muscle atrophy is one of the consequences of aging and sports activities may prevent it. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of high intensity interval training on gene expression of Tweak and Fn14 in EDL muscle of aged C57bl/6 mice. For this purpose, 28 male C57bl/6 mice aged (n=14) and adult (n=14) were assigned in two groups of training (n=7) and control (n=7). After one-week fa...
